Toronto Police have confirmed a Blue Jays fan who went into cardiac arrest in the seventh inning of Thursday night’s game against the visiting Chicago White Sox has died in hospital.

The game was stopped for four minutes with the Jays at bat when players and umpires noticed a commotion in the stands along the left field foul line.

Stadium medical personnel attempted to revive the man as fans looked on before he was carted out of the stadium.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of the person who was taken out of the ball game here tonight,” Jays manager John Farrell said following Toronto’s 7-2 loss at the Rogers Centre.

It was the second medical emergency of its kind at the Rogers Centre this season.

Is the season lost for the Toronto Blue Jays or is there still time to turn things around?
Plenty of time to get it turned around
They're quickly running out of time
It's lost. When do the Argos start?
It was over before it began
