The Toronto Blue Jays recalled pitcher Joel Carreno from Triple-A Las Vegas prior to Wednesday’s game against the Milwaukee Brewers.

Carreno, who is scheduled to start on Wednesday, is 0-1 this season with a 4.50 earned run average in five games (one start) for Toronto.

With Las Vegas, Carreno is 2-2 with a 6.20 ERA in 20 1/3 innings.

The team optioned infielder Yan Gomes to Las Vegas to make room for Carreno. Gomes hit .211 with three home runs in 38 at-bats with the Blue Jays this season.

Is the season lost for the Toronto Blue Jays or is there still time to turn things around?
Plenty of time to get it turned around
They're quickly running out of time
It's lost. When do the Argos start?
It was over before it began
