Buzz about Jays, Darvish
By QMI Agency

Multiple reports suggest the Toronto Blue Jays, Texas Rangers and Chicago Cubs have the heaviest interest in Japanese pitcher Yu Darvish.

MLB teams had to submit bids for Darvish by 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Darvish's club, the Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters, has until next Tuesday to accept a bid, which would award exclusive negotiating rights for the 25-year-old right-hander.

There were rumours Thursday that at least one bid was for more than $50 million. For the sake of comparison. in 2006, the Boston Red Sox had the winning bid of $51.1 million to negotiate with Japanese pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka.

Toronto general manager Alex Anthopoulos had not comment when asked about Darvish by MLB.com.

Darvish went 18-6 with a 1.44 earned-run average last season for the Ham Fighters.

Is the season lost for the Toronto Blue Jays or is there still time to turn things around?
Plenty of time to get it turned around
They're quickly running out of time
It's lost. When do the Argos start?
It was over before it began
