TORONTO - The Toronto Blue Jays have traded underperforming second baseman Aaron Hill and fan favourite utility infielder John McDonald to the Arizona Diamondbacks in exchange for second baseman Kelly Johnson.

Johnson has appeared in 114 games with Arizona this season, hitting .209 with 18 home runs and 49 runs batted in.

The Blue Jays will also recall catcher Brian Jeroloman from Las Vegas of the Pacific Coast League.

Hill, who had a breakout year in 2009 which saw him hit 36 homers and 108 RBI, has struggled since, hitting a paltry .225 with 6 homers and 45 RBI this season. He has spent his entire career in the Jays organization since being selected 13th overall in the 2003 MLB draft.

McDonald is batting .250 in 65 games mainly coming off the bench, adding two home runs and 20 RBI.

Is the season lost for the Toronto Blue Jays or is there still time to turn things around?
Plenty of time to get it turned around
They're quickly running out of time
It's lost. When do the Argos start?
It was over before it began
