Jays chasing Rockies catcher
By BOB ELLIOTT, QMI Agency

TORONTO - Both the Cleveland Indians and the Blue Jays are pursuing Colorado Rockies catcher Chris Iannetta heading into Sunday’s no-waiver trade deadline.

Iannetta is hitting .221 in 80 games this season with one homer and 10 RBIs.

The 28-year-old will make $2.55 million US this season and is also under contract through 2012. He’ll earn $3.55 million next year and there is club option for 2013.

The San Francisco Giants could be shopping for help behind the plate and could have interest in Jose Molina.
