ARLINGTON, TEXAS - The Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday designated pitcher Jo-Jo Reyes for assignment, and selected the contract of pitcher Wilfredo Ledezma from Triple-A Las Vegas.

The 26-year-old Reyes went 5-8 with a 5.40 earned run average in 20 starts for Toronto this season, after spending the first four years of his career with the Braves. In 110 innings, the left-hander fanned 64 batters and walked 35.

Reyes was torched in his last outing, on Friday at Texas, charged with eight hits and as many runs with three strikeouts over 4 1/3 innings. The Rangers eventually posted a 12-2 victory.

Ledezma, 30, last pitched in the majors a year ago with the Pittsburgh Pirates, going 0-3 with a 6.86 ERA in 19 2/3 innings over 27 appearances.

He had been designated for assignment by Pittsburgh on December 23, and the Jays picked him up off waivers on January 5.

Is the season lost for the Toronto Blue Jays or is there still time to turn things around?
Plenty of time to get it turned around
They're quickly running out of time
It's lost. When do the Argos start?
It was over before it began
