CLEARWATER, Fla. Jesse Litsch was first done in by the Boston Red Sox batters and then the muggy, south Florida night.

Making the start on Friday in Fort Myers, Litsch was battered for four runs on 11 hits in 42/3 innings. Later in the clubhouse, he started shaking and had to be taken to a hospital where he was given an intravenous drip because he was dehydrated.

He later was driven back to Dunedin by his fiancee.

In the Jays clubhouse Saturday, Litsch was as right as rain.

I went to the hospital to get some fluids in me and Im good to go now, he said.

He said he doesnt think his poor outing was the direct result of the dehydration.

A little bit but the ball was still up and they were hitting it. It was a matter of getting through it, he said. But Im good now.

Litsch said that he started to feel something was amiss in the third inning but went on with the game.

It was a scary feeling for me (in the clubhouse), something Ive never felt before, he said. The fact that I was taken to hospital and nothing was seriously wrong was good to me.

The humidity for the night was at 99% and Litsch, who sweats a lot when he pitches, simply got drained.

Both Litsch and manager John Farrell said that the right-hander would resume his normal throwing schedule and would be making a minor-league start March 31 before joining the team for opening day.

His first start in the regular season will be April 6 in Oakland against the As.
