Molina praises Morrow's new confidence
By MIKE RUTSEY, QMI Agency

DUNEDIN, Fla. — Veteran catcher Jose Molina sees a greatly improved pitcher in Brandon Morrow compared to last year at this time.

“To me the big improvement that he has is how he controls himself on the mound,” said Molina of Morrow, who Friday against the Yankees pitched five scoreless innings, allowing three hits. He also walked three and struck out six.

“It seems to be that he’s more patient. He doesn’t want to blow everybody out with his fastball. Now he can get you out with different pitches and that’s a mature Morrow, that’s he’s starting to learn that.”

It’s an offshoot of the confidence Morrow has discovered in himself, the mound presence that he now exhibits.

“You have to have confidence,” Molina said. “If you don’t have confidence on the mound, you’re done no matter what.

“You go to the opposite side, you go to A.J. (Burnett, of the Yankees) it looks to me that he doesn’t have confidence in himself. That’s two examples right there, one has it and one doesn’t.”

When asked to elaborate on Burnett, Molina declined.

Is the season lost for the Toronto Blue Jays or is there still time to turn things around?
Plenty of time to get it turned around
They're quickly running out of time
