NEW YORK -- Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Jose Bautista has been named the Player of the Week for the American League for the period ending Aug. 29.
In seven games last week, Bautista led the AL with a .500 batting average (10-for-20). He also hit four home runs to boost his Major League-leading total to 42, and walked nine times in posting a .655 on-base percentage.
Bautista's best performance of the week came in a 3-2 victory over the Yankees on Aug. 23, when he slugged two homers and drove in all the Blue Jays' runs.
It is Bautista's third career weekly award, all of which have come this season.
