DOC'S FAREWELL?

Blue Jays management prefer not to speculate on it, but tonight's start against the Seattle Mariners very well could be the final start for ace Roy Halladay in a Jays uniform at the Rogers Centre.

Following this weekend's series with the Mariners, the Jays finish the season on the road in Boston and Baltimore. There's a chance the Jays will trade Halladay, who has one more year left in his contract, in the off-season. Halladay is 15-10 with a 3.01 ERA this season.

"I hope not," said manager Cito Gaston. "Doc's been great for this organization. He's done everything he could here. But if he moves on, we certainly hope he moves on, out of this division, and out of this league, so we don't have to face him."

UNDER THE KNIFE

A pair of catching prospects will be forced to miss the Arizona Fall League because of major surgery.

J.P. Arencibia, a 2007 first round pick by the Jays, underwent kidney surgery this month. Arencibia his .236 with 21 homeruns and 75 RBI at triple-A this season.

"It's something that was detected during spring training," said GM J.P. Ricciardi. "He's doing really well. It's not life-threatening. He'll be back by spring training."

Brian Jeroloman, a 2006 sixth round draft pick, will undergo hip surgery this month. He is .217 with six homers in 108 double-A games this season.
