MONEY MATTERS

Jose Bautista has impressed in right field since starting to play regularly there.

His main problem going forward might be his salary, which was at $2.4 million US this year and may get an increase through the arbitration process.

"It's something J.P (Ricciardi) and Alex (Anthopoulos) will have to look at," manager Cito Gaston said.

"I like the kid but I think it comes down to whether we can or cannot afford him."

Wells is hitting .421 (24-for-57), recording multi-hit games in eight of his last 12 starts ... Edwin Encarnacion has swatted five home runs in his past 11 games.
