YESTERDAY IN ST. PETERSBURG
DOWN GOES MARCO
Marco Scutaro has been bothered by a sore right heel for two months. When he charged B.J. Upton's infield roller in the sixth he felt "something pop" and had to be removed from the game. "On Saturday I felt the best I've felt in two months and now this," said Scutaro. "I felt it pop and then it was like the muscle was tearing." Scutaro will have an MRI this week. "Roy Halladay told me he had the same thing with his heel and then it was fine after it popped. This was probably the best thing for me the doctors said."
LOFTY STATUS
Lefty David Price joins Tampa Bay's Jeff Niemann as the only two rookies to beat Halladay twice in the same season. The Rays have now beaten Halladay four times this season and seven times over the previous two seasons. The lead-off walk to Jason Bartlett was only the sixth lead-off walk in Halladay's 285 career starts. Despite the fact that the Jays are 1-5 in Halladay's six starts against the Rays this season, Halladay has made five quality starts.
STARTING TUESDAY
The Jays hope that lefty Brian Tallet will make tomorrow's start against the Baltimore Orioles at the Rogers Centre. Tallet was hit in the arch of his right foot by a Robinson Cano liner Wednesday night. An option -- if Tallet can't start -- is right-hander Scott Richmond, who threw only 63 pitches in a loss Friday to Tampa Bay.
