NOT VINTAGE ROY
Roy Halladay picked up the victory Tuesday, in what was not vintage Halladay. He allowed 11 hits, and walked one in his 112-pitch, six-inning outing. Halladay is 18-6 (.750 win percentage) against the Yankees in his career. Only Babe Ruth (17-5, .773) has a better career-win percentage than the Yanks all-time, according to the Elias Sports Bureau. Ruth pitched for the Boston Red Sox from 1914-19 and was the original Yankee killer.
CLIMBING THE CHARTS
Vernon Wells doubled in the second off Chad Gaudin for the 291st of his career, tying Tony Fernandez for second on the Jays career doubles list with 291. Carlos Delgado leads with 343. Wells is one shy of Fernandez's mark for runs scored (704), third on the Jays career list. In Tuesday's game, Wells moved past Ernie Whitt with his 1,218 game moving into fourth place. Wells is two homers shy of George Bell's mark for most by an outfielder (188).
COMEDY CENTRAL
Asked whether he got in any punches, Jays bench coach Brian Butterfield answered: "I'm a lover." Interjected Brandon League "He was probably hugging Derek Jeter."
