TOGETHER AGAIN In an effort to reduce any jitters in starter David Purcey, Jays manager Cito Gaston put the pitcher's battery-mate from triple-A Las Vegas, Kyle Phillips, behind the plate. "He caught him quite a bit," Gaston said. "We hope it will help him (Purcey) throw a few more strikes. If he wants to get better, he's got to throw more strikes and maybe with Phillips back there he will." Phillips has shown he is no slouch at the plate. In 76 games with Las Vegas, he hit .300 with eight homers and 29 RBIs. Last night marked his major-league debut. overbay overdue Heading into last night's game, 1B Lyle Overbay was in a 0-for-15 rut and had just one hit in his past 21 at-bats. He snapped his streak at 0-for-16 with a single in the fifth. Century mark OF/DH Adam Lind hit a three-run homer in the sixth inning to give him 100 RBIs on the season. Lind became the first Jay to reach 100 RBIs since 2006 when Vernon Wells had 106 and Troy Glaus had 104. Lind is the first left-handed hitter to hit that plateau since Carlos Delgado totalled 145 in 2003. over and out Wells was ejected in the sixth inning for arguing after he was picked off at first base. Replays showed he was clearly safe. It was just the third ejection of Wells' career.
