LAST NIGHT AT ROGERS CENTRE

COMPLETE PITCHER

The complete game for Jays right-hander Roy Halladay on Tuesday was his first of the season, but it was the 41st of his career and 36th since 2003, which is the most in the major leagues.

In fact, the 36 complete games over that time frame is more than the total of 21 different major league clubs.

ON THE BEAM

Right-hander Casey Janssen, who is recovering from shoulder problems, allowed one run on four hits, walked one and struck out five in his rehab start Tuesday night for the double-A New Hampshire Fisher Cats. It was Janssen's fourth rehab start. The other three were with class-A Dunedin. Overall, Janssen has allowed two earned runs in 18 innings during his rehab program.

HURTIN' YANKEES

For the second consecutive game, Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter was not available for duty because of an issue with his right oblique. DH Hideki Matsui, who had to leave Tuesday's game because of tightness in his right hamstring, also didn't play.

The Yankees lineup has been further depleted by the loss of catcher Jorge Posada, who is on the disabled list with a hamstring strain.

TOWER OF POWER

Brian Tallet, the Jays 6-foot-6 left-hander who has been thrust into a starting role because of the forearm injury to Jesse Litsch, will make his sixth consecutive start tonight against the Yankees.

In four of his five starts, Tallet has allowed a total of five earned runs over 25 innings for a 1.80 ERA. Tallet is 2-1 as a starter and has lasted seven innings in each of his past two starts.

NEXT UP

Tonight, 7:07 p.m., Yankees LHP CC Sabathia (2-3, 3.94) vs. Jays LHP Brian Tallet (2-1, 4.95), Sportsnet, Fan 590.

Do you think Jesse Litsch will bounce back and pitch for the Blue Jays again?
  Yes, the bullpen needs help
No, his injury was too severe
  I don't want him back
