Rookie left fielder Adam Lind came up this season with the reputation of being a strong hitter but less-than-average defensively.
But while Lind has struggled at times at the plate -- he entered last night's game hitting .230 with eight homers and 29 RBIs -- his defence has been stellar.
"Your career doesn't start in the big leagues.
"I've been working since 2004 (on outfield play)," Lind said yesterday.
"Defence is, if you mess up it's on you, but if you do good it helps the team as opposed to hitting, which is an individual type thing.
"If you make a good play (such as he did in Monday's victory when he ran down a Torii Hunter line drive in the gap), just catch the ball you keep the pitchers happy."
LINEUP CHANGES
Backup infielder Howie Clark, who drove in his first run of the season in Tuesday's loss and is 5-for-12 (.417) in four starts, was in the lineup at second base in place of Aaron Hill last night. Tomorrow afternoon, Clark will start at third in place of Troy Glaus.
"He's been swinging the bat real well," manager John Gibbons said of Clark.
STREAKS SNAPPED
A couple of Blue Jays' hitting streaks came to an end in Tuesday's four-hit 12-inning loss. 1B Matt Stairs went 0-for-5 to end his seven-game streak while SS John McDonald was 0-for-1 to end his five-gamer. 2B Aaron Hill was 1-for-4 to increase his hitting streak to seven games.
