Blue Jays right-handed pitcher Ty Taubenheim remains in hospital in an isolation ward because of a staph infection of his left foot. His infection is different than the one that recently struck right fielder Alex Rios.

Rios is out of hospital but remains on the disabled list. he is not expected to return to the Jays lineup for 10 to 14 days.

There is no timetable for Taubenheim's return.

DO THE DOO

Left-hander Scott Schoeneweis came back from the all-star break with a new look. Gone are the long curly locks as he now sports a modified Mohawk -- a Mock Hawk.

"I didn't like my first half so I decided to shave it," Schoeneweis said. "It was an impulsive thing. Once I said I'd do it, you can't back down."

DIAMOND DUST

Yesterday's Dog Day promotion was a sellout in the section and drew a total of 409 pooches, a record for the four-year old promotion ... With his double in the fifth inning, outfielder Reed Johnson has reached base safely in 45 of his 47 starts ... The Jays have won three consecutive series at home and 12 of the 16 series they have played at Rogers Centre this season ... With the win, the Jays' record in one-run games this season improved to 9-2.
