The book on ... Aaron Hill

What a major-league scout says: "I saw both Hill and Russ Adams in the minors when both were playing shortstop, Adams was at triple-A Syracuse and Hill was at double-A New Hampshire. Hill looked like the better of the two to me. Watching Adams, it was as if they were trying to make him into a shortstop.

"I thought Hill had the best chance to play every day at this level because he's more of an instinctive player and I like his arm. I hope Adams is okay. He is not the first young guy to lose his job and be sent down and he won't be the last. Some handle it and make the adjustments. Some hang their heads, go down with a case of 'big-league-itis' it's like: 'What am I doing here?' And they never recover. Adams has shown me he's more mature than that.

"They're better off with Hill. The few games I've seen him at short, what he lacks in range he makes up for with his arm."
