Major League Baseball served up its All-Star Game appetizer Monday with a display of dingers at the Home Run Derby.
The skills competition featured a few moments of entertainment outside of hitting home runs. Some were provided by the all-stars themselves, others by the broadcast crew and even Mother Nature.
All of it, of course, was captured by photographers and eagle-eyed viewers on social media.
Here are our favourite moments from the 2014 Home Run Derby.
DOUBLE RAINBOW ALL THE WAY!
The derby was delayed a half-hour due to rain, but while everybody waited for the show to get started a most spectacular scene arched over Target Field in Minneapolis.

Double rainbow, dudes.
BAUTISTA A YANKEE?!
It wasn't a banner night for the ESPN graphics editors.
According to the broadcast crew, Toronto Blue Jays slugger Jose Bautista actually plays for the New York Yankees ...
... and Giancarlo Stanton plays for the "Florida" Marlins.

10 HOMERS, 8-BITS OF TERROR
Bautista racked up the most home runs in the first round, spanking 10 bad boys over the fence. It was enough for ESPN to give him the R.B.I. Baseball treatment.
STANTON HITS 510-FOOTER
Stanton has hit the longest home runs on average this season and Monday he showed off his power.
The tracker might say 422 feet in the upper deck, but it's estimated the ball would have landed 510 feet away on the ground.
Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Andrew McCutchen reacted appropriately.

After Stanton received a bye to the semifinals he faced Cincinnati Reds third baseman Todd Frazier, who beat him 1-0. This might be the only time Frazier beats Stanton in a competition of strength so he let the Marlins outfielder know who's boss.
