SECOND BASE: An unsettled position — if not unspectacular, especially with Cano’s move to the Mariners — and wouldn’t be shocked to see as many as nine teams ending the season with different second-sackers than they started with, either because of fading veterans, impressive youngsters or as the simple by-product of in-team competition for the job. Alberto Callaspo is the A’s 2B, but qualifies only at third .

Robinson Cano SEA — Yankee-type stats possible in Seattle, but don’t overpay for them.

Jason Kipnis CLE — Valuable 15-30 type who should settle back into a .270 hitter.

Jose Altuve HOU — Kipnis with a little less power. He’ll drop from leadoff to No. 2.

Dustin Pedroia BOS — A .300-ish hitter whose HRs have gone 21 to 15 to 9 since 2010.
