New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez's interview with Major League Baseball, scheduled on Friday, was postponed because of an illness, Newsday reported.

Rodriguez is reportedly recovering in California. No date was set to reschedule the interview.

It is not known if his illness, which is not considered serious, will affect Monday's scheduled resumption of Rodriguez's appeal of his 211-game suspension. Rodriguez's legal team is expected to begin presenting his defense.

MLB's interview with Rodriguez at the players union's Manhattan office is mandated under the collective bargaining agreement.

Rodriguez was suspended Aug. 5 after an MLB investigation of former South Florida anti-aging clinic, Biogenesis, linked him to performance-enhancing drugs. He played the rest of the season under appeal.

Rodriguez will face questions from MLB's senior vice president and general counsel Dan Halem. Rodriguez was previously interviewed by the league in connection with its investigation but reportedly refused to answer questions.
