Yet another prominent Denver sports figure is accused of driving under the influence.

Rockies co-owner Charlie Monfort was arrested late Monday night on suspicion of DUI, 60 miles north of Denver, Colo., according to the Greeley Tribune.

In a pair of unrelated events, two Broncos executives -- Matt Russell and Tom Heckert -- were disciplined by the NFL team after facing similar charges during the summer.

Monfort, who has co-owned the National League West franchise since 1992, was released Tuesday on a personal recognizance bond.

“I’m extremely disappointed in myself for the decision I made to drink and drive and the potential risk I caused to other innocent people," Monfort said in a statement.

"I do understand the seriousness of my behaviour and the issues that I am facing and I’m committed to do what’s necessary to deal with my problem.”

In 1999, Monfort was arrested on a similar charge in Greeley, Colo., but ended up pleading to a lesser charge of driving while ability impaired.
