Out of the chaos and confusion - the fog of war, if you will - that enveloped the final moments of one of the most-memorable World Series games you'll ever witness Saturday night, one thing jumps out.

There is now more than a little bit of tarnish on John Farrell's Boston halo.

Hailed as the right man at the right time to preside over the redemption of the Red Sox after two unsettled years fraught with internal drama, Farrell has been showered with multiple accolades in 2013 but he had nowhere to hide after a 5-4 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals in Game 3, which was not his finest hour (or four hours as it turned out).
