Here are Ken Fidlin's keys to a World Series win for both the Boston Red Sox and St. Louis Cardinals:

The Red Sox Will Win Because ...

1. The American League won the All-Star game

No ball park in baseball gives the home team quite the advantage that Fenway Park gives the Red Sox. Its quirky dimensions, its looming left field wall, its cavernous space in right field are defensive nightmares for players who have little or no experience playing defence there. It is almost a given that a Cardinals player will make a miscue, or miscues, at some point during the Series that will cost his team a base, an out or a run while trying to fathom things like the centre-field triangle or the caroms off the Monster.

2. They are patient at the plate

In the 13 years that MLB.com has kept track of total pitches seen at the plate, no team has seen more than the 25,667 pitches the Sox looked at this past season.
