What a night for red.

Before the game, the Clydesdales circled the playing field at Busch Stadium, Miss Missouri sang the U.S. anthem and in the 13th inning Carlos Beltran provided the walkoff win when he singled home pinch-hitter Daniel Descalso from second to enable the St. Louis Cardinals to post a 3-2 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers in the opener of the best-of-seven NLCS.

That’s a perfect game in this baseball mad city.

Amazingly, a good chunk of the 46,691 fans who were there at the start stayed to the end of the game that took 4:47 to play.

Game 2 will go Saturday afternoon and feature the Dodgers Clayton Kershaw against outstanding rookie Cardinal right-hander Michael Wacha.
