Much has been made about hometown hero Neil Walker, Pittsburgh born and bred, helping the Pirates to their first winning season since 1992.

But the St. Louis Cardinals had their Missouri-raised weapon: David Freese.

The Cards third baseman, the 2011 World Series star, hit a two-run homer in the second inning to spark St. Louis to a 6-1 victory over Pittsburgh in the deciding game of the National League Division Series Wednesday night.

The win, before 47,231 fans at Busch Stadium, means that the Cards will host the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 1 of the best-of-seven NL Championship Series Friday in St. Louis.
