The Houston Astros closer situation has become somewhat amusing -- at least for those fantasy owners who have not been burned throwing down a few bucks on the latest flavour of the day, only to see someone else with the ‘S’ beside his name in the boxscore. Since Jose Veras was traded less than a month ago, three different Houston relievers -- Josh Fields (with two), Chia-Jen Lo, and, most recently, Kevin Chapman -- have earned saves with three more (Jose Cisnero, Hector Ambriz and Joshua Zeid) also being mentioned in the mix as possible closers. Fact is, if any one of them had pitched consistently enough, they might’ve had the job by now. But each has had his rough moments to go along with the brilliant ones. For instance, Fields -- who was mentioned back in March as a possible successor to Veras (a free agent in 2014) -- struck out all four Red Sox batters he faced on Aug. 5 to earn his first save, then two nights later gave up three runs to let a lead get away.
