You have to love everything about Brett Lawrie, fantasy-wise, except for his inability to stay on the field. Here he is looking away after spriining his ankle on a slide into second base that sent him back to the DL in late May. (Reuters)

So, Brett Lawrie’s weekend return turned out to be a false alarm. But it shouldn’t be long after the all-star break that he is back with the Blue Jays. Again. That’s welcome news for his fantasy owners -- of which I am one, having made a trade to re-acquire the talented but tightly wound infielder shortly before he landed back on the DL in late May. And therein lies my dilemma. I’m counting on Lawrie as part of my AL-only team’s rebuild for 2014, but wonder now if much of that fantasy potential is destined to go unrealized thanks to his penchant for getting hurt. Proof? In essentially two calendar baseball seasons -- from June 2011 until June 2013 -- Lawrie has found his way on to the DL five times.
