Rocky River police are investigating a possible drug-related incident involving Cleveland Indians pitcher Chris Perez.

The 27-year-old closer’s home was rummaged through by U.S. postal inspectors and a regional narcotics unit Tuesday after authorities said a package containing a controlled substance was delivered to Perez’s home.

Perez was not arrested, but charges could be filed following lab results.

“I spoke to Chris this morning,” Indians manager Terry Francona told The Plain Dealer. “I called him just to make sure he was OK. Other than that, we have to allow the process to unfold.”

Perez is currently on the 15-day disabled list due to a shoulder injury.

STRASBURG SIDELINED

The Washington Nationals have placed pitcher Stephen Strasburg on the 15-day DL with a strained back muscle.

The 24-year-old all-star pitcher skipped a bullpen session scheduled Wednesday to determine if he’d be able to start Saturday at home against the Minnesota Twins.

Strasburg was pulled from last Friday’s start due to strained lat muscle.

Through 12 starts this season, Strasburg is 3-5 with a 2.54 ERA.
