It may be the most costly 50 cents Tampa Bay Rays prospect Josh Sale has ever spent.
The Rays suspended the 2010 first-round draft pick indefinitely for “conduct detrimental to the organization,” the team announced.
The ban comes after Sale apparently wrote an inappropriate post on Facebook about a visit to a Florida strip club Monday.
“Threw 50 cents at a stripper tonight. First time. Got kicked out and she got so pissed thought she was gonna cry......your a stripper. Be thankful. Hoe,” the post said.
Sale had just come off a 50-game suspension after testing positive for methamphetamine and an amphetamine in August. The 21-year-old was about to be activated at Class-A Charlotte.
Picked 17th overall in the 2010 MLB draft, Sale has hit .238 with 14 home runs and 59 RBIs in 134 games over two seasons as a member of the organization.
