Embattled New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez is setting records away from the diamond.
The 37-year-old sold his Miami Beach home for a record $30 million Friday, one of the largest purchase prices ever for a home in south Florida.
A-Rod purchased the plot three years ago for $7.4 million, according to ESPN, doling out roughly the same amount of cash for the 20,000 sq.-ft. home.
"When you're offered the highest price for a home in a city's history, you have to take it," Jose More, A-Rod's business partner, told ESPN.
While More protected the identity of the purchaser, he said the home's new owner is not an athlete.
"Alex was ahead of his time in his design of the modern, clean, elegant structure," More said. "There are eight houses in the area that are now being built exactly like this."
Actor Matt Damon and Miami Heat players Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh also have homes on the same street.
Rodriguez hasn't played for the Yankees this season after undergoing hip surgery during the offseason.
He's expected to make his 2013 debut following the all-star break.
