Otis Nixon facing drug charges
By QMI Agency
Retired outfielder Otis Nixon is facing drug charges following a weekend arrest in an Atlanta suburb.
The longtime Atlanta Braves base stealer, who also played for the Montreal Expos and Toronto Blue Jays, had a crack pipe in his pocket and a crack rock in his vehicle when he was stopped early Saturday, according to a local sheriff's office report.
"Otis admitted to me that the substance was crack cocaine but it didn't belong to him," a deputy wrote, obtained by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "Otis said the crack cocaine and the pipe belonged to his son."
Nixon was charged with possession of cocaine and possession of a drug-related object, according to the sheriff's office.
Nixon played in 1,709 games over 17 seasons, stealing 620 bases and batting .270 during his career.
