Los Angeles Dodgers prospect Yasiel Puig was arrested in Chattanooga, Tenn., early Sunday.

The 22-year-old Cuban defector was charged with speeding, reckless driving and driving without proof of insurance, according to the Los Angeles Times.

“We’re aware of it,” Dodgers general manager Ned Colletti said. “We take it seriously. We’ll be handling discipline internally.”

Puig was released shortly after his arrest and has a hearing scheduled for May 14.

The outfielder signed a six-year, $42-million contract with the Dodgers last June. He nearly cracked the opening-day roster this season after hitting .517 with three home runs and 11 RBIs in 27 spring training games.

Puig is batting .333 this year with double-A Chattanooga and has been on the disabled list for eight days with a sprained left thumb.

RUIZ RETURNS

The Philadelphia Phillies finally have their starting catcher back

The team reinstated Carlos Ruiz after he served a 25-game suspension for amphetamine use.

“I am really happy to be here – it’s a nice, nice feeling,” Ruiz told MLB.com. “I am putting everything behind me. This wasn't like being injured, it was completely different. I watched a lot of games, and it was hard for me because I would like to be here and I can’t do anything because I was under suspension.”

Ruiz went 1-for-4 against the New York Mets Sunday.

He batted .325 with 16 home runs and 68 RBIs in 114 games with the Phillies last year.

The team started the season 11-14 without him.
