Double-A team to honour fallen soldiers ... permanently
Mobile BayBears will leave a seat empty on a permanent basis
By The Sports Xchange

Section 107, row 1, seat 1, is now a tribute seat that will never be sat in at Hank Aaron Stadium.

The Mobile BayBears have hit a home run with a decision to honour America’s fallen troops.

The Double-A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks will leave a specially designed seat empty on a permanent basis, CBSSports.com reported.

The seat is painted black and the BayBears have added the POW/MIA logo. The seat will remain unoccupied, permanently.

“We wanted to find a way in our ballpark to permanently recognize the sacrifices of those who protect our freedom,” BayBears general manager Heath Bennett said in a statement. “There is a strong military influence in this region and that made finding the right way to show our respect very important to our staff. The seat in section 107, row 1, seat 1, is now a tribute seat that will never be sat in, but it will never be empty.”

The BayBears will unveil the seat on April 10, their home opener this season.
