Stephen Strasburg, Dodgers aces will challenge for NL Cy Young
By MIKE RUTSEY, QMI Agency

Nationals pitcher Stephen Strasburg is one of our top NL Cy Young candidates. (Reuters)

It’s less than six weeks until opening day, but it’s never too early to handicap who the winners will be when they hand out the major hardware at the conclusion of the 2013 season. Following is our top five list of potential National League Cy Young candidates, in no particular order:

ZACK GREINKE Los Angeles Dodgers

There are plenty of folks who believe that after signing his six-year, $159-million contract with the Dodgers, the first order of business for Greinke was to clear some shelf space for the hardware to follow, Stephen Strasburg be damned. Top quality American League pitchers who move to the senior circuit usually have a field day what with no DH to battle and lineups that are filled with a nod toward defence over offence. As proof, we look to Greinke’s 2011 season with Milwaukee when he was 16-6 with a 3.83 ERA in 28 starts. In his nine years in the bigs, Greinke is 91-78 with a 3.77 ERA.

Is the season lost for the Toronto Blue Jays or is there still time to turn things around?
Plenty of time to get it turned around
They're quickly running out of time
It's lost. When do the Argos start?
It was over before it began
