Expect Yankees to slide in AL East
By MIKE RUTSEY, QMI Agency

Each day this week, the Sun will be looking at the eight key issues, problems and developments facing the teams in the six divisions of Major League Baseball. We’ll start off with the American League East, home of the Blue Jays. However, with Ken Fidlin beating the bushes in Dunedin at the Jays’ camp, we will not include Toronto in today’s discussion.

Q. Has age finally caught up with the New York Yankees?

A. Last year, the Yankees won 94 games along with the division, but you would have to think that Father Time may finally catch up to them this season. The Yankees re-upped Andy Pettitte, 40, and Ichiro Suzuki, 39, while pinning a lot of their hopes on the return to health of Mariano Rivera, 43, and Derek Jeter, 38. The Yankees aren’t even counting on the return of Alex Rodriguez — they replaced him with Kevin Youkilis, who is a kid at 33.

Are you encouraged by the Toronto Blue Jays' recent winning streak?
Yes, team is starting to gel
No, team is not championship calibre
Unsure what to make of it
