Cubs officially add Edwin Jackson

CHICAGO - The Chicago Cubs made it official with free agent Edwin Jackson, signing the pitcher to a four-year contract on Wednesday.

The deal had previously been reported to be worth $52-million.

The 29-year-old Jackson will be joining his eighth club since debuting in the majors in 2003. He made 31 starts last season with the Washington Nationals, going 10-11 with a 4.03 earned run average for the Nationals.

Jackson has also played for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Tampa Bay, Detroit, Arizona, the Chicago White Sox and St. Louis. He has pitched in two World Series, winning a title with the 2011 Cardinals.

For his career, Jackson is 70-71 with a 4.40 ERA.
