DETROIT, MI - The Detroit Tigers and free agent outfielder Torii Hunter agreed on Friday to a two-year contract through the 2014 season.

Financial terms of the deal were not released, but it is reported to be worth $26 million.

The 16-year veteran batted a career-high .313 with 24 doubles, 16 home runs and 92 RBI through 140 games for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim last season.

"Torii Hunter is a quality major league player who is a tremendous addition to the Tigers organization both on and off the field," Tigers president, chief executive officer and general manager David Dombrowski said. "He continues to be a consistent contributor at the plate, in the outfield and on bases, and we feel Torii is a great fit for our lineup."

A nine-time Gold Glove winner and four-time All Star, Hunter is a career .277 hitter with 406 doubles, 297 homers and 1,143 RBI over 1,947 games with the Minnesota Twins (1997-2007) and Angels (2008-12).

Is the season lost for the Toronto Blue Jays or is there still time to turn things around?
Plenty of time to get it turned around
They're quickly running out of time
It's lost. When do the Argos start?
It was over before it began
