Pena in line again for Red Sox job
By QMI Agency
New York Yankees bench coach Tony Pena is taking a second shot at getting the Red Sox managerial job, according to multiple reports Monday out of Boston. Pena also was a candidate last year before losing out to Bobby Valentine, who lasted only one season as manager. Pena was scheduled to be interviewed Monday -- an off-day for the Yankees in their AL championship series against the Detroit Tigers. The Red Sox interviewed Los Angeles Dodgers third-base coach Tim Wallach on Friday and will talk with San Diego Padres special assistant Brad Ausmus and Baltimore Orioles third-base coach DeMarlo Hale this week. Pena, 55, was a catcher for 18 seasons in the majors, including four years with Boston. |
