Montreal to name street after Gary Carter
By QMI Agency

The late Gary Carter, baseball hall of famer and Expos catcher, will have a Montreal street and ballpark named after him.

A stretch of Faillon Street, which borders on the Jarry Park where the Canadian Open tennis tournament takes place, will be renamed in his honour.

The date for the changes is set for February 2013, a year after Carter’s death from brain cancer at 57.

Known as “The Kid”, Carter played for the Expos from 1974-1984, making the National League all-star squad seven times. He also won three gold gloves while playing for the Expos. During the off-season, Montreal traded him to the New York Mets for Hubie Brooks, Mike Fitzgerald, Herm Winningham and Floyd Youmans.
