Calf injury sidelines Teixeira again

BALTIMORE - New York Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira could be sidelined for another week after aggravating a calf injury during Saturday's game against Baltimore.

Teixeira returned to the lineup Saturday after a 10-game absence because of a strained calf, then hurt himself again trying to beat out a double-play grounder in the ninth inning of the 5-4 loss. He made a head-first slide on the play and was called out, ending the game, although replays clearly showed he was safe. A run would have scored to tie the game.

Yankees manager Joe Girardi updated Teixeira's status on Sunday and said an MRI exam would be scheduled. The switch-hitter will likely miss New York's upcoming series in Boston.

"We'll see how the MRI goes," said Teixeira after Sunday's game against the Orioles. "We'll make sure there's no other injury, (but) it makes you worry a little bit."

Teixeira is hitting .255 in 120 games with 23 homers and 81 runs batted in this season.

Is the season lost for the Toronto Blue Jays or is there still time to turn things around?
Plenty of time to get it turned around
They're quickly running out of time
It's lost. When do the Argos start?
It was over before it began
