Yankees ban Reggie Jackson
By QMI Agency
While Reggie Jackson has apologized for making nasty comments about Alex Rodriguez, the former New York Yankees great has been barred indefinitely from the team. Jackson, a special adviser to senior Yankees management, was told to stay away from the team last week, ESPN reported Monday. Jackson wasn't with the Yankees for a four-game series completed Sunday at Fenway Park in Boston. He will be allowed back at some point, a source said. "He's trying to rectify everything," Yankees manager Joe Girardi said. Jackson told Sports Illustrated that A-Rod's 642 career homers should be called into question because of the slugger's admitted use of performance-enhancing drugs. "Al's a very good friend," Jackson said of the Yankees third baseman. "But I think there are real questions about his numbers. As much as I like him, what he admitted about his usage does cloud some of his records." Rodriguez responded jokingly: "With friends like that, who needs enemies?"
