Tampa Bay Rays third baseman Evan Longoria will be out for six to eight weeks because of a partial tear of his left hamstring.
Rays vice-president Andrew Friedman told the Tampa Bay Times the best scenario would be for Longoria to begin rehab in four weeks and return to the roster two weeks after that.
Longoria slid awkwardly into second base Monday night against the Seattle Mariners on an attempted steal. He limped off the field and left the game. An MRI Tuesday revealed the tear.
The 26-year-old is hitting .329 with four homers and 19 RBI.
