Port St. Lucie, FL - The New York Mets will wear a patch on the sleeve of their uniforms to honour Gary Carter during the 2012 season.
Carter died on February 16 after a battle with brain cancer.
The patch features a black home plate with "KID 8" in white lettering.
Carter spent five seasons with the Mets from 1985-89 and helped New York to its last World Series title in 1986. The 11-time All-Star catcher also played for the Expos, Giants and Dodgers during his career from 1974-92 and was elected to the Hall of Fame in 2003.
