Gary Carter's health has taken a turn for the worse as an MRI has revealed more cancerous tumours on his brain.
"I wish I could say that the results were good ... (the doctor) told my mom that there are now several new spots/tumours on my dad's brain," Carter's daughter, Kimmy Bloemers, wrote Thursday on the family's website,
"I write these words with tears because I am so sad for my dad. Dr. Jimmy Harris will be coming to my parents' house (Thursday) evening to talk to the family about the next step."
Carter, 57, a former star catcher with the Montreal Expos and New York Mets, was too weak to attend his charity golf tournament earlier this week in Florida.
"It has been nine months now and I don't feel any different from Day One," Carter told the New York Daily News a few weeks ago. "I haven't been up to doing any interviews."
