Milwaukee, WI - The Pittsburgh Pirates have placed first baseman Derrek Lee on the 15-day disabled list because of a fractured bone in his left wrist.

Lee, acquired from Baltimore just prior to the trade deadline, has not played since August 9. He was hit on the wrist by Chicago's Carlos Marmol on August 3, then sat out four games before returning for the next two.

On Friday, Lee took swings in the batting cages at Miller Park to test the wrist and was unable to play against the Brewers.

Lee has played in just five games for the Pirates since the July 30 trade. He hit a pair of homers in his first game with the club, but has just three hits since and is batting .278 with his new team.

In 90 games overall this season, the veteran is hitting .247 with 14 homers and 47 runs batted in.

The Pirates recalled infielder Josh Harrison from Triple-A Indianapolis to fill the roster spot. It will be Harrison's third stint with the big league club this season. In 30 games for Pittsburgh, he is batting .263 with five runs batted in.
