San Francisco, CA - Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Roy Oswalt has been activated off the 15-day disabled list after being sidelined since late June by a lower back injury.

Oswalt, slated to start Sunday's series-finale against San Francisco, last pitched on June 23 against St. Louis and left that contest after two innings because of tightness in his back. He was diagnosed with inflammation and a bulging disc in his lower back.

It was the second DL stint for Oswalt this season, as he was also out from April 27 through May 16 because of lower back inflammation.

The veteran right-hander enters Sunday's start with a record of 4-6 and a 3.79 earned run average in 13 starts.

To make room on the roster, the Phillies optioned pitcher Juan Perez to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
