Rolen has shoulder surgery
By Sports Network

HOUSTON - Cincinnati Reds third baseman Scott Rolen underwent arthroscopic surgery Wednesday on his injured left shoulder.

Team medical director Dr. Tim Kremchek performed the operation that removed bone-spur fragments from Rolen's shoulder. He is expected to be out for an additional 4-6 weeks.

Rolen's left shoulder put him on the DL from April 24-May 12. He went on the disabled list for the second time on July 22 for what originally was listed as a strained left shoulder.

The 36-year-old Rolen was batting .242 with five home runs and 36 RBI in 65 games this season.
