Votto NL player of the week By QMI Agency

Toronto native Joey Votto was named National League player of the week Monday.

It was the first time since September 2009 that the Cincinnati Red first baseman and reigning NL MVP has won the weekly award.

Votto hit .385 with four home runs and nine RBIs for the week. He homered in three straight games, all against the Mets, for the second time in his career.
