Former slugger Jose Canseco has taken a verbal swing at his ex-girlfriend, tweeting mean-spirited comments and even posting her telephone number and urging his followers to call her after the two broke up.

At first, Canseco seemed merely saddened at the breakup with Leila Shennib, his girlfriend of two years.

"She was very special now its over so sad," he tweeted.

Then he got nasty.

In one tweet he called her "hateful" and "egotistical."

In posting her phone number, he asked his followers "Call Leila ... bring pot her favorite."

Canseco also tweeted that he would "never forget what u just told me over the phone."

"I will never forget or forgive what u said to me Leila ur evil."

Canseco has since deleted the posts.

It has been a tough stretch for the 47-year-old. On Wednesday he was ruled in breach of contract for backing out of a boxing match and sending his twin brother, Ozzie, instead.

A judge ruled that Canseco must pay the promoter $7,600.
